3D Transthoracic Echo in an Office-Based Setting

Tampa Cardiovascular Associates (TCA) is a private, office-based cardiovascular practice in Tampa, FL. The team is comprised of cardiologists Dr. Vasco Marques and Dr. Asad Sawar, along with sonographer Gustavo Lopez, RDCS, RVS. Their practice is focused on cardiovascular diseases, including heart disease, peripheral artery disease, and venous diseases.

For several years, Tampa Cardiovascular Associates was using a mid-range echocardiography system typically used in a private, office-based cardiovascular practice. In 2011, TCA switched to the Phillips iE33 xMATRIX echocardiography system. While making the decision to upgrade to a premium system typically used in hospital echo labs took some colleagues by surprise, for the TCA team it came down to patient care. As Dr. Marques explained, “We were impressed with the image quality of the Phillips iE33 xMATRIX and felt that using 3D imaging would help us ultimately provide better patient care.”
