She currently practices at Florida Hospital Tampa, Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel, Kindred Hospital Central Tampa, as well as Palm Garden of Tampa Rehabilitation Center. Ms Fuego has special interest in cardiovascular disease prevention. Prior to becoming an ARNP, Ms Fuego worked as a registered nurse, at Florida Hospital Tampa in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for five years and at Brandon Regional Hospital in non-invasive cardiology for two years. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Katie is a certified Adult Registered Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and licensed by the State of Florida. She completed her Bachelor’s in Nursing at St. Petersburg Community College. Katie began her career working as the charge nurse at Florida Hospital Tampa in the cardiac unit overseeing and caring for patients with complex cardiac issues. She eventually moved into the cardiac cath lab where she further specialized in the critical care of patients with both emergent and chronic cardiac illness. Katie continued her quest for knowledge and eventually received a Master’s in Nursing from The University of Tampa. She has since been managing care for patients as an ARNP along side a profound and well known group of cardiologists in both the office and hospital setting. Katie has affiliations with five Tampa Bay Hospitals as well as various rehabilitations centers. She also is a professional member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her special interests include congestive heart failure, hypertension, venous thromboembolism, and cardiovascular health promotion.
