Let’s get rid of those unsightly varicose veins! Everyone likes to look their best and having those blue or red squiggly, ropy veins snaking up your leg is not attractive. It is a sign of illness and no one likes to give the appearance that they are sickly. It is an indication that something is not right in your body. Varicose veins tell us that you have venous insufficiency. We can help with that!
Here at Tampa Cardiovascular Associates, we have several methods to remove or obliterate diseased veins. We not only treat the damaged vein, we help you in prevention through nutrition education and advice on lifestyle modifications. Our on-going education and state-of-the-art equipment and designation as the only accredited vein center in the Tampa Bay area make us experts in varicose vein solutions.
Here are the ways that we can successfully rid your body of varicose veins. After evaluating your condition, we can recommend which treatment will work the best for your body.
- Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure in which we inject a saline solution into the vein. This encourages the vein to clot, shutting down the blood flow and re-routing the blood to healthy veins. The varicose vein eventually dies off and is absorbed by the body. The recovery time for this treatment is short with most patients returning to their normal activities on the same day.
- Endovenous Thermal Ablation is another popular procedure that uses high-frequency radio waves. Heat is directed to the varicose vein, which causes it to close off. Some patients have bruising during the procedure, but they are able to return to normal activities the same day.
- A two-step procedure using a combination of MOCA™ and the Clarivein™ catheter is practically painless. We do not even need to numb the area for most patients. A rotating catheter is inserted into the vein and agitates the lining of the vein. While this is happening, a saline solution is inserted to make the vein clot and shut off.
- Phlebectomy is a surgical procedure where we will make a small incision in the leg and remove the diseased vein. Some situations call for this method such as very large varicose veins.
We are continually educating ourselves on the latest and greatest ways to treat varicose veins. We evaluate each and every patient on their individual condition and then recommend which method of treatment will work the best for them.
