Test Prep Hub

Use this guide to prepare for common heart and vascular tests. Tap a test name to see its specific instructions. Your printed instructions from TCA always take priority — follow those if they differ.

Before any test
Confirm your appointment details

Check your appointment time, office location, and whether your test requires special instructions before you arrive.

Bring the basics

Bring a photo ID, insurance card, current medication list, and any referral or prior records requested by the office.

Ask before changing medication

Do not stop or hold medication unless TCA staff or your physician specifically tells you to do so.

Dress for the test

Wear comfortable clothing. For walking stress tests, bring walking shoes and clothing that allows easy movement.

Important safety note

This page is general preparation guidance, not medical advice. If your printed or verbal instructions are different, follow the instructions given for your appointment.

For chest pain, severe shortness of breath, stroke symptoms, fainting, or a true emergency, call 911.

Following your instructions matters

Not following your prep instructions — such as eating before the test, skipping the caffeine restriction, or taking a medication you were told to hold — can cause inaccurate test results or make imaging difficult to interpret. If you are unsure about anything, call our office before your appointment.

Food, caffeine, and fasting

Some tests require fasting or avoiding caffeine, while others do not. If you are unsure, call the office before your appointment.
